Contract win: ZOO to support European streaming launch

ZOO has been appointed as a primary vendor for the forthcoming European launch of a global streaming video service and expects that this will lead to significant orders commencing in Q4 and delivering meaningful revenues in FY23.

It comes as WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal and ViacomCBS have all launched streaming video platforms in North America and announced plans to make these services available internationally in 2022, requiring catalogue content as well as newly produced originals. This, together with the ongoing roll-out of established global services, will create unprecedented demand for premium localisation and media services during 2022.

ZZOO AcadamyOO Academy launches with first of-its-kind professional dubbing course

ZOO has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to skilling up and supporting the future of the localisation industry.

Now, with demand for content production surging around the globe, we have launched ZOO Academy, a programme of academic courses, educational collaborations and practical workshops to inspire and develop the translators, script adapters, dubbing actors and directors of the future.

ZOO Academy is working with leading universities and teaching professionals to proactively build long-term capacity in the localisation talent pool, particularly among those languages that currently have low supply.

It did not take long to reveal our maiden initiative under the ZOO Academy framework. In December, ZOO teamed up with the University of Sheffield to launch the industry's first professional development course in dubbing script adaptation.

The online course, which will be taught by the university's leading academic specialists in media translation, incorporates contributions from a global team of experienced script adapters representing over 20 dubbing languages.

The course is due to commence in early 2022 and will feature real world exercises and case studies consisting of TV and film content provided by leading content creators, Magnolia Pictures and Chicken Soup for the Soul.
